Jessica Hillman – Architect in Training

A University of Colorado at Denver graduate from the School of Architecture, this California girl’s interest in architecture began at a young age.

Growing up in Woodland Hills, CA, Jessica’s favorite subject was mathematics, but she loved art and took as many classes as she could fit into her full schedule. She began college at San Diego State University majoring in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Interior Design. But she loved the art lectures and interior design studio classes so much, she decided to switch directions and pursue her lifetime dream of being an architect.

After her sophomore year, she transferred to the School of Architecture at the University of Colorado at Denver. And the rest is history.

Let’s get to know Jessica a little better.

If you won the lottery? If I won the lottery and had a choice where I could spend my time, I’d have to say traveling and drawing the world’s greatest architectural features. I’ve always wanted to backpack and draw my surroundings and people watch.

Favorite memories? All my favorite memories are centered around being with my family. Whether it is a barbecue, birthday party, or family reunion, being with them is always a good time and a time that I cherish.

Proudest moment? My proudest moment was when I graduated college. I am the first generation female to graduate in my family with a bachelor’s degree.

Two things you do every day? Stretch and clean/tidy/organize

Favorite Netflix binge? There are so many. Californication, the Crown, and I just started Ozark.

Favorite architect? I don’t know if I have a favorite architect because there are so many good ones out there. But I do like Louis Kahn. C.P. Drewett has a lot of amazing work as well! ;D
